Procedure

1.
Condition
the sample to moisture equilibrium in standard atmosphere temperature 27±2 oC
and HR 65± 2 %.for 24 hour.

2.
Attach
a specimen 10X4cm to piece of multifibre adjacent fabric by sewing along one of
the shorter edges.

3.
Place
the composite specimen in the container together with the specified number of
steel ball.

4.
Add
the necessary amount of soap solution preheated to the test temp ±2 oC
given above the table.

5.
The liquor
ratio is 50:1 ml/g.

6.
Close
the container and operate the machine at temp and time specified in the table.

7.
For
all tests, remove the composite specimen at the end of the wash and place it in
a 4 liter beaker half filled with grade 3 water at ambient temperature.

8.
Gently
agitate for 1 min and then place the beaker under a cold running tap for 1 min.

9.
For
all method extract the excess water from the composite specimen by squeezing
the test specimen by hand.

10.
Open out the composite specimen by cutting the
stitching except on one of the shorter side.

11.
Dry,
using filter paper to remove excess water. Then dry hanging it in air.

12.
Assess
the change in colour of the specimen and the staining of the adjacent fabric
with reference to the original specimen using r grey scale.

Note: If sample is multicolor fabrics- minimum one sample for each colour
